Custom Armstrong Open-Hole Flute, Sterling Silver w/ 24K for sale in Sallisaw, OK
This flute is a " golden age" Armstrong model 82B, made in 1972, several years before United Musical Instruments (Conn-Selmer) purchased Armstrong. It is a very rare instrument. This model was only available as a custom-build. It has a solid sterling silver head and body, and the entire instrument is 24K gold plated. The heavy gold plating over the solid sterling silver gives this instrument a warm, beautiful, rich tone quality that you don't hear from solid sterling or silver plated flutes. This is an open-hole flute with an inline G key, and a low B foot. I am the original and only owner of this instrument. This was my first conservatory level instrument, and I played it throughout high school, college, and as an adult, until about 25 years ago, when I was finally able to purchase a professional level instrument. This flute was never used for marching band. I have always taken very good care of it. The instrument and case are both in excellent condition- looking at it, you would never know it is 50 years old! I had this instrument completely overhauled, with all new premium pads, corks, felts, etc, a little over 2 years ago. I have played it occasionally since then to make sure the pads seated properly, but it has had very little use since being refurbished. The coffin case and cleaning rod are original to the instrument. Case is still in good condition. There is a small place where a post has rubbed against the velvet lining, and has worn it (please see the photo showing the empty coffin case). The zipper broke on the original outer case cover about 30 years ago, so I purchased the outer nylon case cover w/ fleece lining at that time. The case cover is in like- new condition. The last professional COE (clean, oil, and adjust) was done on this instrument in September 2022. I also had new hole plugs installed at that time so it would be ready for a new owner. I didn't list it for sale right away because parting with this instrument has been difficult for me. We have been through a lot together. This is an amazing instrument, and deserves to be played, rather than sitting in my closet, waiting to be used as a back-up instrument. I'm happy to answer any questions you may about this flute. I'm hoping it finds it's way into the hands of a promising young flautist who will make beautiful music with it.
